Q-Tip sat down with Elliott Wilson for an exclusive interview for Jay Z’s Life + Times before he hit the stage at the Barclay Center for A Tribe Called Quest’s final show ever on a stop on the Yeezus Tour. In the interview The Abstract talks about revisiting ATCQ material and his rhymes, coming to the end of an era with that group and what’s coming next. He also touches on working on Busta Rhymes’ upcoming album (he dropped some hot verses on “Thank You”). While it was cool to hear Q chop it up in such a rare interview, the big buzz was his revelation that he’s working on Kanye’s next album. When talking about new projects, Q-Tip casually throws in the major news “I’m producing Kanye’s new album with Rick Rubin”. He doesn’t give any further details and Elliott barely seems to register the news but remember that Kanye said last week in an interview with Philly radio station Power 99 that he expects the album to be out next summer.
