If you need consistent speed and reliability then FTTC wouldn’t be for you, you would need to go for an Internet Leased Line. FTTC is easier to get because it uses already existing telephone like to run the connection over.

Internet Leased Lines are available to 100% of the UK, its just depended if you can afford it. For all that time I have been achieving speeds more or less as expected – typically around 48Mbps download and 18Mbps upload (give or take 1 Mbps here and there). Usually this is just down to the nature of the line, but it would still reflect badly on the ISP by those who don't understand the technology.
