I tried to get them to replace a working one, due to all the NBN outages and they said the only reason they would replace a modem is if its broken. You just need to get in touch with them and request it. They'll send it out for free.
When I contacted Optus again they said oooops mistake, they will send new router and technician to my address. To my surprise, 4g signal is not working either. If possible, I'd locate your nearest Optus store and try the above. I received my new nbn modem with the 4g backup. I'll ring optus later and sus it out but I'm really not hoping for much...
