It is the predecessor to Rocket League. I feel like most of the want for standard-only maps is coming from it still being a relatively new game to those who never played SARPBC.
As such, we think standardization is important and necessary to provide a level playing field and foster consistent competition across all skill levels and events. I hope they add a map with a place to drive behind the goal, like in hockey. As long as they allow you to play on whatever map you want, that shouldn't matter too much, right? I would really love to play on the map that shows when you activate the easter egg in the menu and also the pirate ship map and the huge stadium map where you can drive behind the net. When it arrives, our “new-but-old-school” DLC will feature a number of awesome customization items that longtime SARPBC fans should immediately recognize.
Sorry for the non standard map lovers. Wasteland - Slightly less awesome, bigger Urban. If I'm playing competitive, I don't want silly obstacles and such, just skill vs skill. We have carefully listened to your feedback over that extended period of time, and though we didn’t arrive to this decision lightly, we believe it’s the right one to make.
