The Director of Athletics is responsible for all facets of the Lawrence Academy interscholastic sports program. Lawrence Academy: 26 Powderhouse Road, P.O. Sixth graders must maintain a 70 average or above in each/all of their elementary subjects. The school serves students in grades Pre K – 12, and currently draws those students from a seven-county area. Lawrence Academy's enrollment as of 2010 is 268 students.
Lawrence Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Failing to comply with team rules, which is at the discretion of the head coach with the approval of the Director of Athletics. Student athletes should understand that extracurricular activities, such as the interscholastic sports program, are a privilege and not a right. The probation consists of a two (2) week period where a student is allowed to practice with the team but cannot play in games.

Lawrence Academy holds dual accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and AvancED, and we currently enroll over 200 students. Lawrence Academy opened its doors in 1968, and for the past 50 years has been committed to providing the families of northeastern North Carolina with an excellent educational experience. The Athletic Director receives all in-season student athletes’ grades every six week grading period and every three weeks for progress reports. Student athletes who have two (2) grades of D or below in a course(s) will be advised they are in danger of being ineligible. Spartan Athletics - Lawrence Academy. The independent school environment found at Lawrence provides opportunities in athletics for all of our students, and we are committed to maintaining that rich tradition. If the student raises his/her grade(s) to a 70 or above during the probation period, the student athlete may resume normal participation activity. Student athletes will be suspended from participating in the team’s next scheduled contest for the following reasons: Student athletes will be dismissed from a team during a given season for the following reasons: Scholarships, Camps and Other Education Opportunities. Please bear in mind that Lawrence Academy has used 6th graders to fill teams, but this is done on an as needed basis.
